The Mangalica gene bank of Emőd is involved in activities connected with the preservation of the breed, the supply of breeders to the Nyíribrony pig farm, as well as production operations, while in Nyíribrony and Nyírtass the sole purpose is to attend production activities.
The company has an output of pure-blood Mangalica sows and F1 breeding sows and breeding boars with 50% Mangalica and 50% duroc bloodlines, as well as pure-blood Mangalica porkers with a slaughtering weight of 130-150 kgs.
Farrowing in Emőd-Istvánmajor is performed in traditional farrowing pens, while Nyíribrony utilizes a modern automated facility.
Piglet breeding is attended with modern, intensive, industrial technologies in both plants.
Mangalica breeders and porkers are invariably kept outdoors in large paddocks, while their feeding is based on a farm-mix diet as relying exclusively on farm-type feeds and a special food improved for mangalica pig.
One of our expanding activities involves the integration of the market for Mangalica pigs bred for business purposes. At the present, our Company distributes the annual output of more than 50 Mangalica plants.
The butchery - companies, currently appointed almost exclusively by Délhús-Pick - purchases and processes the pigs. The boney legs and shoulders, as well as unboned loins are exported to Jamenos Segovia Sa, where Spanish-made Mangalica products are manufactured, while salamis, sausages, lards, liver-products and fats are made in Pécs and Szeged.
The Spanish-made, outstandingly high-quality Jamón Mangalica Monte-Nevado, Paleta Mangalica Monte-Nevado and the Lomo Mangalica Monte-Nevado are manufactured mainly for the Spanish market, yet they are also available in Hungary by means of ordering from either our Company, or the DHS Kft., transacting our export and import operations.
The introduction of Pick Zrt's products to the consumers who look for quality meat products has been a great success. The Pick Mangalica Salami, one of the best - and at the same time most expensive - dry products in the Hungarian meat-processing industry opens up new dimensions of quality among gourmet customers.
Both Spanish and Hungarian Mangalica products are made as based on traditional formulae, without any additive. Due to the low individual number of the livestock, Mangalica products are only available in limited amounts.
All the Mangalica pigs of the Olmos és Tóth Kft are under the continuous monitoring of the National Association of Mangalica Breeders (MOE) with each individual animal having a certificate of origin, and at the same time our Company purchases such Mangalica pigs from the integrations that have proper pedigrees.
